What is it about my blog?

What is it about my blog that makes me have to delete so many junk comments? As a matter of fact, I just marked 198 comments as SPAM and had them deleted immediately. Just as they were deleted, another 2 were waiting. I promptly deleted them too.

Any ideas about how I can cut down on such junk comments on my blog? Its getting a bit overwhelming.

Must say though that some comments are genuine comments from genuine readers. I appreciate those. I really do.

Apparently, you take it that I’m joking. Well, I just deleted another 176 SPAM comments. I’m sure you wouldn’t like to have to do that. 😕

Thanks for the compliments though. 🙄

The Spammers must be exploiting a loop-hole in your blog software.

Get the latest version or ask this question in the forum of the blog software’s official site.

Or change the blog config so that posters have to type some kind of additional text b4 posting…. if your blog software allows it.

    Hi!

I am from Germany and are very interested in Ghana and the way of living there since I start an internship at NIIT in Kumasi in October 2006.
I had the same problems with hundreds of spams comments every day. Install and active the WordPress-Plugin “akismet” and you are done. Google for it, if it didn’t come with your wordpress install. You need a free activation key for that from wordpress.com. I haven’t had any more spam since.

    Best,
    Manuel from Germany

Thanks Manuel. I have read about such solutions at WordPress.com but have been a bit hesitant to install them. Wouldn’t such plug-ins block genuine comments? Afterall, we’ve seen Yahoo! SPAM solution delivering legitimate email to the Bulk folder. Just… wondering… 🙄
