The Nigerian press usually refer to him as “the embattled Governor of Plateau State”. Well, not anymore. He is officially now a former Governor. Yes. Joshua Dariye who has for so long been escaping the long arms of the law has caught-up with his end. He now joins the list of impeached Nigerian governors. According to “fire-brand” lawyer Gani Faweyinmi,
“It is good news that Dariye has been removed from office for corrupt practices. The evidence is that he stole the resources of the people of the state and converted same to his own, laundered the money and siphoned it into various accounts in England”.
A report by Times of Nigeria indicates that he has since been arrested by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commision (EFCC).
The operatives of the EFCC swooped on the impeached Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye shortly after the impeachment order was effected on him. Sources close to the government house in Jos disclosed said the plain cloth security agents who had kept surveillance on him in the last 72 hours whisked off the embattled governor to an unknown destination.Unconfirmed sources said he was whisked off to Abuja headquarters of the EFCC.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has declared two former Governors of Plateau and Ekiti States, Joshua Dariye and Ayo Fayose wanted.
The commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Osita Nwajah, in a statement made available to THISDAY yesterday , said the suspects were until their removal from office, Executive Governors of Plateau and Ekiti States respectively.
I’m so pissed off.
