The is rising by the day, as the people of Ghana counts down to their 50th Independence Anniversary celebration. Though the celebration is a year-long activity, it is expected to climax on 6th March, being the statutory holiday for Ghana’s Independence day celebration.
On 6th March, the main activity will be at the Independence Square (formerly known as Black Star square) for the national parade. Before then however, innumerable activities have been going on here and there to mark Ghana’s golden jubilee.
Amongst this is the cyberseries, a monthly event that has been in existence since 2002. cyberseries is a forum for intellectual discourse on the current events and circumstances with relation to ICT and how its affects the life of Ghanaians and Africans in general. This evening’s discussion will be titled: “Ghana @ 50, ICTs @ Whats?”
The flyer and newspaper ad being circulated for the event read:
“As we celebrate Ghana @ 50, we need to cast our minds back on what role ICTs has played in our development. How should we position our national development agenda to take further advantage of the opportunities presented by ICTs?”
A one billion dollar question.
The panelists will include: Hon. Edward Salia (Member of Parliament, Jirapa). Mr Herman Chinery-Hesse (Executive Chairman, SOFT Tribe), Dr Amos Anyimadu (Coordinator, Africa Next Knowledge Broker and Interaction), Prof. Nii Narku Quaynor (Chairman, NCS), Mr Ofosu-Adarkwah (Chief Director, Ministry of Communications).
