I logged-in to my MSN Hotmail account this evening, only to discover that my mailbox size had increased from a meagre 25MB to a massive 1000MB. According to an Indian news website Business Standard:
Microsoft Corporation has upgraded the storage capacity of MSN Hotmail to 1 gigabyte (GB), even as it has extended its expiration period for inactive accounts to 60 days from the earlier 30 days.
This has long been over-due, going by the fact that rivals GMail (Google Mail) and Yahoo! Mail, increased their mailbox sizes, long ago.
Some years ago, I was very sick and away from Internet access for weeks at a stretch. By the time I logged-in to my Hotmail inbox again, all my important email had been deleted and replaced with junk email. The mailbox size at that time was a mere 2MB and the inbox was in red. Full and over-flowing with junk. I was thoroughly devastated.
Well, like they say: “It’s better late than never”. Though the Hotmail address is no longer my primary email address, I still use it to contact my close buddies in Nigeria.
