The Africa Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF) holds its 15th edition from 2 to 5 November 2026 at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana. Ghana is hosting it with the AfIGF Secretariat, and registration is open through the forum’s site.
This year’s theme is “Advancing Africa’s Digital Future Through Innovation, Inclusion, and Trust”. The forum brings governments, parliamentarians, the private sector, civil society, the technical community and academia together to discuss internet governance in the region.
Programme
The organisers list artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, cybersecurity and digital trust, digital inclusion and meaningful connectivity, online safety, platform governance, climate change, and youth and gender participation in digital governance among the issues for discussion. Data governance and digital identity are also on the agenda.
AfIGF also runs standing youth, parliamentary and children’s tracks alongside the main forum. The organisers say the forum is meant to strengthen Africa’s coordination ahead of the global Internet Governance Forum 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya.
Host country
Samuel Nartey George, Ghana’s Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, has inaugurated a 35-member local organising committee to steer preparations. The Internet Society will run a booth throughout the forum and an invitation-only event for its members on 4 November.
The host city has 3 internet exchange points. AfIGF follows the African Peering and Interconnection Forum, held in Kigali in August, on the continent’s calendar of internet community meetings.
