Political Turmoil in Ibadan, Nigeria

I have been getting snippets of news every now and then via the BBC about the Political Turmoil in Ibadan, Nigeria. The key players: Governor Rashidi Ladoja, Chief Lamidi Adedibu and the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Azeez Alao Arisekola are making my home town, Ibadan, a hot place indeed.

It’s unbelievable, but it’s true. It appears the shame saga that happened in Anambra state not too long ago, is about to be replayed in Ibadan… Hands are pointing at the powers that be, in Abuja (the seat of the Federal Government of Nigeria).

Nigeria’s Daily Independent gave a graphic detail of the whole brouhaha.

One can only hope that this ‘politrickians’ would learn from the past and stop this dangerous political gymnastics they are engaging in. I hope all the recent events don’t spiral into something unpleasant, like a destabilization of our nascent democracy.
