The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has opened registration for Tech Convergence 3.0, the registry’s annual industry forum, scheduled for 2 June 2026 at Abuja Continental Hotel. The third edition runs under the theme Shaping the Future of Nigeria’s Digital Economy: Leveraging Policy and .ng for Growth, with both physical and virtual attendance options. Registration is open now.
Organiser and audience
NiRA is the registry that operates Nigeria’s .ng country-code top-level domain, and Tech Convergence has been its flagship policy and industry gathering since 2024. The forum draws C-level executives, government policymakers, tech founders, journalists, and educators. The programme spans Nigeria’s digital-economy policy, DNS infrastructure and DNSSEC, internet identity and the .ng domain, the risks of offshore data hosting, and digital inclusion. Interactive tech labs and an after-hours networking mixer round out the schedule.
Speakers and programme
Confirmed speakers include Adesola Akinsanya, President of NiRA; Ibukun Odusote, Chairperson of NiRA’s Board of Trustees; Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA); Senator Salisu Afolabi Shuaib, Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity; Basil Udotai Esq, Founding Partner at Johnson and Wilmer LLP; Ahmad Mukoshy, Founder and CEO of GigaLayer; and cybersecurity expert Muktar Bello. Registration is open at the official event page: nira.org.ng/techconvergence/register.
Government engagement
Government participation is unusually strong for a registry-run forum. NITDA, Nigeria’s federal IT regulator, and the Senate ICT committee are both represented at the director-general and chairman level, signalling that .ng registry governance and national internet policy share the same table. The mix of regulators and private-sector executives reflects how Nigerian digital-economy decisions cut across both.
Context
Tech Convergence builds on a growing strand of African registry and DNS gatherings, alongside ICANN regional dialogues and AFRINIC governance forums. The third edition lands as Nigeria’s data-sovereignty debates intensify: the choice to anchor the agenda in .ng identity and local content as growth levers signals where the registry sees the next decade of Nigerian internet headed.
