World Mobile Subscriber Base Hits 1.8 Billion

Following the tremendous growth witnessed in the telecommunications industry in several parts of world, there are now over 8.1billion mobile subscribers spread across 860 networks in 220 countgries and regions of the world. It is predicted that by 2010 more than three billion people, almost half of the world’s population will access to mobile phones. Of the current 1.8 billion, fifty eight per cent of them are located in developing countries where subsciption to mobile lines has outgrown that of fixedlines.
