The first edition of Maker Faire Africa was successful by any standards. The 3-day event drew exhibitors from countries including: Brazil, Guatemala, Tibet, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Malawi, South Africa, Liberia, Pakistan, Uganda, Madagascar, India and Cote d’Ivoire. There were several guests from the USA especially and I got to meet many leading tech bloggers for the first time especially Erik Hersman of afrigadget.com and Emeka Okafor of Timbuktu Chronicles.

There were a wide variety of crafts, gadgets, designs etc on display. Food and music was in abundance as you would see from the photos and video.

According to Mac-Jordan Holdbrookes Degadjor, one of the organizers I spoke with, the next edition of Maker Faire Africa 2009, the next edition of the event would be in Nairobi Kenya (2010) and then Colorado USA (2011) while the 2012 edition is likely to be held in Nigeria.

I interviewed about 10 of the exhibitors and would update this page with the summary, photos and videos everyday till I have published all I have.
