Y’Hello Ghana! Says MTN

It’s a wrap. The leading telecommunications network in the Africa and the Middle East, MTN, has officially taken over Scancom Ghana Limited, operators of Areeba Ghana. Areeba Ghana is now officially MTN Ghana.

Tariff segments:
MTN has segmented their subscribers into 4 tariff segments namely: XtraConnect, XtraCool, XtraSpecial for Pay as you Go subscribers and MTN VIP for post-paid subscribers. Each of the tariff segments come with special attractions for their subscribers.

MTN Access For Life:
All MTN Ghana subscribers can now keep their MTN cellular numbers, for life.

MTN CallerTunez:
Folks who call MTN subscribers may hear exciting tunes instead of the good-old ring-ring. MTN subscribers have to activate this feature, and choose what music they want their callers to hear.

New website:
Their new corporate website is now www.mtn.com.gh complete with the MTN brands and colours but doesn’t look as nice as that of MTN South Africa – www.mtn.co.za

At 12 midnight – 2nd August 2007, all Pay as you Go subscribers were moved to the MTN XtraConnect segment by default. To migrate to any other segment, subscribers simply call 1333, choose option 6 and follow the voice prompt.

Accra will be in a party mood tonight. There will be a street carnival in front of MTN’s office in Osu here in Accra, as well as other cities in Ghana. Also is the MTN Y’Hello Comedy Night at the National Theatre, Accra.

All the leading daily newspapers in Ghana today, had double page full colour MTN ads.

Tigo, Kasapa and Onetouch, are in for even more competition from MTN, in Ghana.
