“Chief Daddy” debuts on Netflix

A blockbuster comedy-drama released to cinemas in Nigeria at the end of 2018 has now been released on the global streaming service, Netflix.

Produced by EbonyLife Films, Chief Daddy reportedly grossed about N115.7 million (~ $320,400 as at March 2019) within the first 10 days of its release at the cinemas, pointing to its popularity.

The movie would be the 3rd acquired by Netflix, from EbonyLife Films – after Fifty (2015) and the Wedding Party (2016).

The movie centres on the drama following the death of a billionaire industrialist, who left behind a wife, multiple mistresses and several children. The chaotic drama makes for some exciting comedy that many Nigerians can relate with, one way or the other.

It also helps that the movie is made up a galaxy of stars. The cast includes a mix of veteran and new Nollywood stars: Falz, Funke Akindele, Linda Ejiofor, Patience Ozokwor, Beverly Osu, Nkem Owoh, Mawuli Gavor, Rachael Oniga, Kate Henshaw, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Dakore Akande among others.
