Study finds that 21 African countries are paying too much for international phone calls

A report, released on 1 Feb 2007, highlights the fact that the citizens of 19 African countries are still being forced to pay much too much for international calls, due to the maintenance of a monopoly on international gateway services. In addition to this burden on their citizens, this situation also stifles the countries’ international competitiveness and economic growth.
