There is never a time when there is nothing to laugh about, in Nigeria’s political drama. Never. To think that some politicians could actually be conned out of the fear of EFCC* is not only ridiculous, but deeply embarassing.
According to BBC news: Nigerian candidates in graft con
A number of Nigerian politicians have been conned out of thousands of dollars by people selling papers purporting to certify them as “corruption-free”.
The scam follows a warning by Nigeria’s anti-graft agency EFCC that anyone guilty of corruption would be banned from contesting next year’s elections.
It is also incredible that some people would have the boldness to impersonate EFCC officials. There was a news story one time, that a young man actually impersonated the boss of EFCC, Malam Nuhu Ribadu.
* EFCC means Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and was inaugurated by President Olusegun Obasanjo to tackle financial crime.
I don’t think average Nigerian likes or would want to vote for Babangida, however what is happening is that some unscrupulous group of power brokers would seize that power and give it Babangida, that is what every Nigerian will be praying against. Election or voting no longer counts in that country
