GTV (Ghana TV) would soon be among the list of channels DStv subscribers in Ghana can enjoy. GTV is the television service of GBC (Ghana Broadcasting Corporation) which is the official mouthpiece of the Government of Ghana, and is the state TV/Radio broadcast institution.

GTV is currently listed amongst the list of channels viewable to DStv subscribers in Ghana on DStv Africa’s website. Metro TV is no longer listed on the webpage. I am not sure if GTV now replaces Metro TV. Metro TV is still available on DSTV but GTV is not (yet) showing.

This GTV is not to be confused with the increasing popular Multichoice-rival GBS. Gateway Broadcast Services (GBS) is the provider of the GTV satellite Direct To Home (DTH) TV service across sub-Saharan Africa. As a matter of fact, the digital satellite service in Ghana is branded as GBS, to avoid the confusion with GTV the state-broadcaster.

Update: GTV is now available on DSTV channel 142. Metro TV is still available on channel 136.

    svp j’es besoinde vous fréquence des chaines ghana tv ,metro tv,tv3,est aussi sur quel satélite car moi je suis au maroc ét j’aime bien voir les chaines afriquen

    Dstv is still the premier. Gbs is also doing well. The documentry chanels they have is not good. They can do more

    DSTV is the best in Africa, in my view. I just wish the channels could be a la carte i.e., I wish I could choose the channels I want and pay for them only. There are many channels I am forced to pay for, that I never watch.

    I’m a great proponent of alternatives (to convention). While I agree that the quality of DsTV is unparalleled, I would be slow to say that it is the “best”. It depends on what viewers consider the “best”–manifold movies and series you will never have time to watch, but you pay for as part of the bouquet, or ones, like G-Africa, that is very highly-patronised–as is G-SPORTS.

    GBS is making waves in some other African countries too, but DSTV is still the best, for now. 🙄

    David, and GBS is creating waves!! It’s very big in Cape Coast–only after one year in Ghana….
